Dealing with Spam and Unwanted Email Content

Although our central systems manage to filter out about 99% of the SPAM that comes to our employees’ inboxes, there is still that 1% that makes it through. Anytime a message comes from a non-LAUSD email address or asks you to access a link outside of our network, it is always a good idea to delete and ignore the message, unless it is coming from a source that you trust. The Information Technology Division will NEVER send you a request for information from a non-District email address or ask you to go to a non-District web site.

phishingBeware of Phishing and other Attacks from Hackers

The District will never send you a message from a non-LAUSD email address about issues with your account. Nor will we ask you to go to a non-LAUSD site to enter information about yourself. When you see messages of this kind, assume it is a scam and delete it.

Beware, because sometimes the perpetrators are extremely clever at disguising something so it looks as though it came from us. The messages shown below are good examples of what to be suspicious about.
